High blood pressure is known as the silent killer, as the symptoms can normally not be detected. Smoking aggravates high blood pressure. Nicotine causes blood pressure to rise and the heart rate to increase. Smoking also accelerates the buildup of cholesterol in the arteries of the heart. All of these factors can lead to heart attack and stroke.
Ministry Home Care provides free blood pressure checks every month. On the first Tuesday from 10-11am, they are at the Rhine Haus CBRF, 1207 Mason Street in Rhinelander. On the first and second Mondays, 3-5pm, they provide this free service at the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry (436 N. Brown Street).
No appointment is necessary, and there is no cost.
For more information, call Ministry Home Care at 800-643-4663. Wisconsin Concrete Park Classes and Events (Phillips)

Rouleen Gartner, Executive Director of the museum states, “An anonymous donor approached the museum with the idea, stating it could be a great way for us to raise money for special programming as well a providing a lucky family with a wonderful trip” Northwoods Travel of Eagle River came on board when the donor approached them and asked them to become a sponsor of the raffle idea. “During these uncertain economic times, we believe that it makes it easier to support the museum when people have the opportunity to donate smaller amounts more often,” continued Gartner, “and it is always great to be able to help a family in need.” Tickets are $5 per ticket or $10 for 3 tickets with a limited number of total tickets available. Drawing will be held at the museum’s annual auction at Eagle Waters Resort on August 7, 2012. All proceeds will go directly to support the museum and its programming. Other musicians performing with the groups will be Debby Boschke, cellist, from Sugar Camp, Dale Bishop, flute, from Eagle River, and LisaJo Borchers, violin, from Sayner.
Inspired by the beauty of nature which surrounds Northwoods living, Dr Lee has chosen numbers certain to tap into both appreciation of the spirit of creation as well as the spirit of moving choral music.

In addition to presenting at least three concerts per year, the Singers are dedicated to improving the choral repertoire of each singer, encouraging good vocal health practices, widening the appreciation of choral music in the Northwoods, and, especially encouraging young vocalists. Besides the concerts, the Singers appear throughout the year before local civic groups and senior citizen assemblies.
